Who it is for
Lazy Note is made for people who take notes fast and badly, because the idea arrives in the street and not at a desk. For those who open their notes app and find three hundred lines of raw text with no idea where to start. The app is drawn from that experience.
The promise fits in one word: readable. A note that has a shape, and a list of notes you can scan without effort.
What it does
- A live markdown editor. Formatting appears as you write. No switching between an edit mode and a preview mode.
- Folders and tags. One single level of folders, and hashtag style tags written into the text. The two work together.
- Images inside notes. A photo slips into a note, in the middle of the text.
- Highlighting. To find the heart of a long note at a glance.
- Markdown import and export. Your notes come in and go out in an open format, readable by any other tool.
- Fully offline. On the underground, on a plane, with no signal: nothing changes.
What it does not do
- No syncing between devices. Notes live on the phone, and nowhere else.
- No nested folders. One level only, on purpose: a deep tree is exactly what makes notes disappear.
- No collaboration. It is a personal tool.
- No account, so no remote recovery. With no account there is nobody to ask to restore your notes: exporting doubles as your backup.
- No iPhone version. Android only.
- No advertising, ever.

What it costs
Lazy Note is paid for, through a yearly, not monthly subscription. The price and the length of the free trial are on its Play Store listing, which is the only place kept up to date. The subscription is handled by Google Play: it renews from one year to the next, it can be cancelled at any time, and the app warns you before it renews so that nobody is charged by surprise.
When the trial ends, the app stops writing but it still reads and exports for life. Your notes stay yours, readable and recoverable in markdown, whether you subscribe or not. The subscription unlocks writing.
What it knows about you
Nothing. There is no account, no server, no tracker, no ad network. Notes are stored on the phone and only leave it if you export them yourself. The details are in the privacy policy, which is in French for now.

Do I need to know markdown to use it?
No. You write normally and the formatting follows. Markdown only shows up if you want to use it.
Do I have to create an account?
No. There is no account in Lazy Note, and there never will be.
Can I bring my notes over from another app?
Yes, if it exports to markdown or plain text. That is what Lazy Note imports.
Do my notes sync with my computer?
No. To pick a note up elsewhere, export it.
What happens to my notes if I do not subscribe?
They stay on your phone. You can read them and export them for life. Only editing is reserved for subscribers.
Is there an iPhone version?
No, Lazy Note only exists on Android.
