Who it is for
HabitGotchi is made for people who have uninstalled every habit app they ever tried, often on the day the streak broke. Streak mechanics work very well for some people and very badly for others: when missing one day cancels weeks, the only way out becomes stopping altogether.
This app is drawn from that experience. It is a refuge of play and gentleness, at your own pace: not a performance tool.
What it does
- A creature that grows with you. It starts as an egg and evolves as your habits are kept. It is fully customisable: skin, head, limbs, eyes, mouth, cheeks.
- Daily habits. Set down with no numeric target, ticked off when they are done.
- A garden. Where the creature lives, cultivated over time.
- A pixel art workshop. You paint with pigments earned by keeping your habits, and grow generative pieces.
- Quiet little games. Enough to breathe for a minute or three, or to stay in a calm mode with no timer.
- A private journal. Protected by a code, with a summary of the week.
- Works offline. Everything happens on the device, with no connection.
What it does not do
- No streak to keep. Deliberately absent: it is the starting point of the app, not an oversight.
- No punishment for forgetting. A missed day undoes nothing, and the creature does not hold it against you.
- No ranking, no comparison. Nothing to win, nobody to beat.
- No account, no syncing. Your data lives on the device where you play, and nowhere else.
- No advertising, ever. And no selling of data.
- No version on the app stores. It is a web app: it opens in the browser and installs from there.

What it costs
Nothing. HabitGotchi is free and will stay free: no trial, no subscription, no locked feature, no advertising.
One clearly separate exception: the artificial intelligence features are optional. As long as you do not turn them on they do not exist for you; if you do turn them on, you only pay for what you use. All the rest of the app is free and will remain so.
What it knows about you
Nothing. There is no account, no tracker, no ad network. Your habits, your journal, your creature and your garden are stored in your browser, on your device. The details are in the HabitGotchi privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
Is HabitGotchi really free?
Yes. No trial, no subscription, no locked feature. Only the AI features are optional and paid for as you use them, and the app is complete without them.
Do I have to create an account?
No. There is no account, and there never will be.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. It is a web app: it opens in the browser and installs onto the home screen, on iPhone as on Android.
Can I find it on the Play Store?
No. HabitGotchi is not published on the app stores: it lives on the web, at habitgotchi.fr.
What happens if I skip several days?
Nothing. No streak breaks, no score drops, the creature does not wither. You pick up where you left off.
Is my data backed up anywhere?
No, it lives in your browser, on your device. Clearing the site data erases it: export it if it matters to you.
The studio's other apps
HabitGotchi is the studio's free app. The others are small paid Android apps that share the same way of doing things: one thing done well, no account, no tracking. See also Lazy Habit and Lazy Draw, or all the Lazy Mind apps.
